What is residential care and nursing care?Residential careResidential care homes provide living accommodation, meals, help with personal care, someone on call at night and companionship. A residential care home provides care during a normal short illness, but does not provide nursing care. Community health services (e.g. district nursing, incontinence supplies and physiotherapy) are provided to people living in residential care homes on the same basis as if they were living in their own homes. Nursing careNursing homes provide 24 hour nursing care to residents who are bedridden, very frail or have a medical condition or illness that means they need regular attention from a doctor or nurse. There is always a qualified nurse on duty. A care home can be dually registered where it provides accommodation together with nursing or personal care. The National Care Standards Commission registers and regulates care homes with different categories of registration e.g. residential with personal care and /or nursing. about us | news | careers | contacts | site map | legal notices | help | home London Strategic Housing | Mitali Housing | Riversmead Housing | Community Trust Housing | Solon Community Network | Stadium Housing | Willow Housing and Care |
