Our purpose built sheltered schemes provide high quality one or two bedroomed flats, with level access and a high level of security. All accommodation is linked by a community alarm service to our 24 hour, seven days a week, mobile response team. Each scheme has a designated site-based manager.
The accommodation is for rent under an Assured Tenancy. Individually-tailored support offered includes assistance with income maximisation and claiming welfare benefits, accessing statutory and voluntary services such as healthcare, homecare and befriending services, encouragement to maintain life skills and to remain as independent as possible, enjoying life as an active member of the community.
Services such as gardening, cleaning of communal areas, repairs, maintenance and a handyperson are provided. All schemes have a residents communal lounge, a guest room and laundry. In some schemes, luncheon clubs are provided and we aim to foster links with the wider community of older people through social and recreational activities.
Referrals to our sheltered housing come from the local authorities in which we operate, as well as a number of approved, voluntary agencies, such as Age UK. Those nominated should be over 60 years of age. In some boroughs, we will consider direct referrals.

Some of our tenants need additional support to help them maintain their independence and manage their tenancy. This might include advice on benefits they would be eligible for, linking in to other services such as those provided by health and social care agencies, encouraging social contact or helping to address such things as alcohol dependency . Willow provides a team of peripatetic support workers, funded by the Supporting People grant from Brent Council, to work with our more vulnerable tenants in our sheltered housing schemes.
